Trained as a psychiatrist, I am drawn in my photo work toward a psychological dimension with visual ambiguities that challenge the viewer’s sense of reality. For example, the night drama of the Carnival Nights series serves as a magnet for the instincts and fantasies that both evoke fear and excite us with hope. My contemplation of issues of emotional dichotomy is further explored in the Preserving Beauty series, a meditation on time, seeking to arrest decay and immortalize transient beauty in pigment prints while alluding to the depredations of time.
